What We Believe

As Christians, we are UNITED around the Bible, the written revelation of God's Word, that reveals all that we need to know unto salvation and life. We confess and believe that it bears witness to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only Savior and hope for sinners.

We are REFORMED in our faith and practice according to the Scriptures as summarized during the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation in the Three Forms of Unity: Belgic Confession (1561), Heidelberg Catechism (1563) and Canons of Dort (1619). We believe that we come into a saving relationship with God only because of His gracious work in our hearts and therefore He deserves our praise in every area of life.

We are a CHURCH belonging to the one holy universal and apostolic Church instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ for the ministry of the Word (preaching of the Law and the Gospel), the ministry of the sacraments (Baptism and the Lord's Supper), and the shepherding of God's people by the pastors and elders. As a historic Christian Church we hold dear and profess the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. We are a member congregation of the United Reformed Churches of North America (URCNA), a federation established in 1995 that has grown to more than 80 congregations.

We were organized in ESCONDIDO in 1953 with sixteen families and have grown to nearly 200 families. Over the years we have extended Christ's church by planting several other congregations in this area and supporting missionaries around the globe. Our latest church plants are now the Oceanside United Reformed Church and Christ United Reformed Church in Santee. We currently support two new works: High Desert URC (Victorville, CA) and the New Covenant URC (Twin Falls, ID). We also support Reformed Missions in Latin America under the supervision of the Rev. Bill Green.
